Manchester (M24) | £30,000 - £40,000 DOE | Office Based with Site Visits
We are working exclusively with a growing fit out and refurbishment contractor based in Manchester who are looking to strengthen their commercial team with the appointment of an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
The company delivers a wide range of fit out and refurbishment projects across the North West and wider Northern region, working within the commercial, education and industrial sectors on projects typically ranging from £50k to £2.5m.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Graduate Quantity Surveyor looking to kick-start their career or an Assistant Quantity Surveyor seeking greater exposure and responsibility within a growing business. The successful candidate will work closely with an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor, gaining exposure to the full commercial lifecycle of projects from pre-construction through to final account.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the commercial management of fit out and refurbishment projects
- Supporting the preparation of cost plans, budgets and valuations
- Assisting with subcontractor procurement and package management
- Preparing and issuing subcontract orders
- Monitoring project costs and supporting cost reporting processes
- Assisting with the management and valuation of variations
- Supporting monthly applications for payment and subcontractor assessments
- Assisting with CVRs and commercial reporting
- Supporting final account negotiations and project close-out
- Liaising with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and operational teams
- Attending project and commercial review meetings
- Assisting with site visits and project progress reviews
Candidate Requirements
- Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management preferred
- Graduate Quantity Surveyors will be considered
- Ideally 1-2 years' experience within a Quantity Surveying or commercial role
- Experience working for a fit out, refurbishment, shopfitting, interiors or general building contractor would be advantageous
- Strong numerical and commercial awareness
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Eagerness to learn and develop within a commercial environment
- Full UK driving licence
